Conde Nast Traveller has named Trøndelag as one of their "22 best places to go in 2022," highlighting the area as one of the world's three most exhilarating food and drink destinations! The international travel magazine cited lauded the region's access to fantastic ingredients form forests, mountains, fjords and fields, with world-class seafood production, organic dairy products and fresh vegetables.

These products, harvested by Trøndelag farmers, hunters and fishing folk, are the highlights of the region's food scene and adorn the plates of many quality restaurants around the world.

The list has been compiled by the magazine's editors, where Trøndelag is highlighted alongside Birmingham, Alabama, and Serbia in the food and drink category. The other sections include Art & Culture, History, Sustainability, Outdoors & Beach and Transportation. An eclectic list, encompassing varied and exotic international travel destinations, such as London, Sicily, Cape Verde, Gabon, Kyushu in Japan and Sumba, Indonesia.

Condé Nast Traveeller draws attention to the fact that Trøndelag has been named European Region of Gastronomy 2022 and recommends Britannia Hotel as the perfect launchpad for your adventure, with a meal at our Michelin-starred Speilsalen restaurant top of the wish list. One of Speilsalen's signature dishes, 'A Pilgrimage from Frøya' was mentioned in the article, named after the scallops from Frøya, which are served with celery and caviar.

A pilgrimage from Frøya is one of our signature dishes and scallops are probably my absolute favorite raw material here in Trøndelag. It is scallops that are fried in organic butter from Røros, served with celery and caviar with sauce made on Tindved, green chili and butter. Scallops from Frøya are large, extra tasty and you will not find this quality anywhere else in the world.

The Condé Nast editors also name-dropped several of the city's best places to dine, including Credo, Bula Neobistro, and Kraft Bodega, eateries where the chefs' signature dishes are based on the best Trøndelag ingredients.
