Welcome to the brand new Britannia Wine Club!
Britannia Hotel’s Wine Director and Head Sommelier, Henrik Dahl Jahnsen is the leader of the hotel’s new, exciting initiative for all wine lovers; Britannia Wine Club. Henrik has established a rich and varied programme for the club’s inaugural year and is looking forward to sharing his wine knowledge with its new members.
“I will be arranging two exclusive tastings every month,” explains the five-time Norwegian sommelier champion. “There will also be an annual wine tour, where members will benefit from our fantastic network, opening doors to vineyards and experiences which are not typically available.”
“Britannia Hotel Wine Club will not be like other wine clubs. I want our society to be highbrow, but never pretentious, always focusing on the joy wine and the quality of what’s in the bottle. The club is primarily about developing a community.”
Britannia Wine Club events and the format will vary throughout the year. Members will also have the opportunity to bring a friend or partner to some events.
The regular programme includes:
- Two unique tastings every month (except for July), every fourth Tuesday and Thursday of the month, equaling 22 different tasting experiences. Wine tasting lasts approximately two hours and includes approximately six wines. 695,- per session.
- Britannia Wine Club dinner in one of the hotel’s restaurants, after the Thursday tasting every month. Members can invite one guest to join the two-course dinner, and you also have the option to reserve a room at the hotel for a 20% discount.
- Yearly wine tour to a destination around the world.
As a special Christmas Gift / introductory offer, Britannia Wine Club is giving the first 50 members who join this December a bespoke set of Riedel x Britannia Wine Club tasting glasses; four glass in their own carrying case, accompanied by a Riedel x Britannia Wine Club carafe. The glasses and the carafe are from the glassmaker’s legendary Performance range, and have been lazer engraved with the wine club’s logo.
“There is an old saying which goes ‘knowledge increases the enjoyment of wine’,” says Britannia’s Wine Director, who was also credited with the Michelin Sommelier prize in 2021. “And so, it is my intention for the Britannia Wine Club that we further explore the world of wine together.”
In order to do so, Henrik has limited the participants to 100, while simultaneously setting up a tantalizing schedule for 2022. Welcome to the new Britannia Wine Club!
Included in the membership fee:
- Two special annual tastings – included. One tasting will be themed (looking deeper into a region or grape variety), the other will be an end of summer celebration, where Henrik shares the joys wines which belong to summer (also be possible to bring a guest to the end of summer party).
- Fine Wine fair every autumn – included. Also includes a five-course dinner, accompanied by fine wines.
- Opportunity to purchase exclusive wholesale wines though the hotel – included. Members receive the option to pre-purchase the most sought-after bottles, which are then stored safely in the hotel’s wine cellar.*
- A personal tasting book – included. A new luxurious leather-bound tasting notebook will be provided to each member every year (extras can be purchased during the year).
- Exclusive option to join yearly wine tour – separate cost, details to follow.
- Exclusive access to the Wine Club’s monthly tastings, hosted by Michelin Sommelier Award winning Henrik Dahl Jahnsen – extra cost 695,- tasting (can vary with extra special tasting events).
- Members special prices for accessories (e.g. glasses, corkscrews, carafes etc.)
